The Scholarship System educates students on how to graduate from college debt-free. Using Jocelyn Pearson's personal experience of securing over $126K in scholarships and getting paid to go to school, she now teaches the same process she used to students & families all over the country.
Covering the foundation of paying for college including loans, FAFSA, grants and more to teaching strategies for applying for scholarships, The System has already saved families over $12.81 million (as of Jan 2024) and growing.
In addition to an online course, "The Scholarship System: 6 Steps to Securing Scholarships for College," we also provide many free training resources to families on paying for college.

Hey. I just found out I didn’t meet SAP requirements. I have a pretty low gpa but it is above the required gpa. I didn’t meet my pace percentage mine is 60% and it should’ve been at least 67%. My sister got incarcerated and had a long court case trial throughout the span of 3 years. It’s all been pretty hard on the family. I have plenty of documentation to prove this but I was wondering if this is a valid excuse. Thank you.
Yes. Definitely! Financial aid officers are humans and usually have compassion for student's unique situations. Explain your situation and how you plan to do better with your grades in the future. They will consider it and make a decision accordingly.
Thank you vey much. It's a great help.
What about aged part time workers or jobless people trying to enhance their professional expertise by going into professional certification courses from universities of 3 /6/12 months courses wich run from $2500-$8000 and education institutes do not have grants or loans for thes.
If these programs don't accept FAFSA applications, that means they don't receive or qualify for federal funding. Some state, have state funding available for worker training programs. Check with the Employment Security or Development office.
Hi, How difficult would it be, for someone going into her Junior year in college to get $5-$10,000, in scholarships and grants? Great student!!! Thank You!!!😀😀😀
A lot will depend on the student's competitive profile, efforts, and applicant pool. Applications are weighed differently depending on the scholarship organization. Some are focused more on volunteerism, others on leadership, and many are holistic taking grades, leadership, and community service into account.
I am planning to transfer from this university where the environment is very toxic and the situation in this country is always violent and chaotic. I want to transfer because I want to move to safer country and nicer university. However, I don't have enough money to transfer. I am so helpless. I don't know what to do

I will be receiving benefits from the Post 9-11 GI Bill to attend TUJ (Temple University Japan)in Tokyo in the Fall of 2024 and Kyoto in the Spring of 2025 . Benefits do not start until 1 Oct 2024. I received permission to live in an apartment In Tokyo because I am an older student but I must share that I received a small scholarship of 100,000 Y ($650) to transfer the second semester to Kyoto Campus . This is a huge opportunity to expand my educational experience as I study Communications in a very special setting and in brand new Facilities and at a new campus with different classes and unique cultural opportunities. I thought the scholarship would be able to cover other expenses but it is only for tuition. The problem is that I must maintain my apartment in Tokyo (ITS extremely hard to get an apartment) and the way the Bill works is it reduces the amount that's paid for tuition to allow for the scholarship to cover it first. My question is how will FAFSA benefit a Post 9-11 GI Bill veteran or how can I avoid this. I'm also one of the unlucky ones who paid $1200 into the Montgomery GI Bill. I forfeited this to use the Post 9-11 GI Bill .
FAFSA will calculate if you qualify for any federal aid such as Pell grants or subsidized student loans. So it seems that even if you do qualify for such aid, it wouldn't change your GI Bill issue any. The only way to possibly avoid this, is to apply for scholarships that awarded directly to students, but unfortunately, there are not many of those kinds of scholarships, since most are sent directly to the school.
Thoughts on the Energy Creates scholarship? Seem fishy to me.
Are u still doing this? Can I send you a message? Thx 😊
wow you have no idea how much this helped! thx!!
Glad it helped!
Something I learned with the fafsa system is that I have to keep appealing. Appeal Appeal Appeal For 2023/2024 application FAFSA used my w2 from my active military duty in 2021. I was honorably discharged in 2023 and remained unemployed because I committed myself to college full time. Along with the GI bill. FAFSA said I made too much money with an annual salary of 28k in the marine corps (yes you heard that right, 28k is apparently too much money for FAFSA) and received 0$ for 2023/2024 aid, bummer . I did appeal and appeal providing my DD214 and termination paperwork which lowered my EFC. This year of 2024/2025 I’m going to get the full maximum student aid package after months of appealing to the Financial aid office. They made this a pain in the ass because of the EFC system they have in play.
YES! That is great advice.
You mention a free training webinar, "Six Steps to Securing Scholarships." Is this the same webinar as "How to Secure Scholarships for College"? I just viewed that one two days ago.
Yes. It is the same webinar.
If a child was awarded over $500,000, was that for four years? Even if that covered everything, including room and board, there had to be a lot of that money that would have been unused; correct? Surely, all that excess would not have been sent to him in overages? Would that depend on how much was awarded for each semester? I need to find a book entitled "Scholarships for Dummies 101."
Yes. It would be for as long it took the student to complete their education, 4-5 years. Colleges manage finances by academic period, either semester or quarter. After direct expenses are paid for, overage checks are given to the student to be used for indirect expenses such as off-campus housing, travel, books, or other expenses.
@@TheScholarshipSystem So, if the school has $500,000 in scholarships/funding for this child (and the child is doing four years), how is an overage calculated before the child has completed his four years? I have some crazy ideas, but I would rather hear the facts of how this really works.
When you said to find scholarships, build the list, write the essays, you then said to go ahead and submit the applications. We you referring to being admitted to a college/university? What if the deadline for submitting some of those applications has already passed? Also, so what if, after being admitted, the student is not rewarded the scholarships for that college/university?
College admissions is a separate process than scholarship applications. Most scholarships applications don't require students to be admitted at the time of the deadline. It will depend on the organization.
If the deadline has passed you may have to wait until the following year when it is offered again.
Most scholarships can be used at any college/university UNLESS it is specific to a certain type of school such as vocational school, community college, or in-state school.
When you talk about scholarship money (that has been earned), being sent directly to the student, I don't understand that scenario. How could there be any earnings connected to a scholarship that pertain to some type of labor or services? What am I missing? I have listened to that portion of your video over and over, and I don't understand what you're saying. When you talked about working part-time jobs, your employer would have withheld taxes. As you said, that may have been why you didn't owe the IRS. However, if you were making six figures in overage checks every semester, that makes no sense. Can you explain this? You're saying that every semester you were making $100,000 plus and paid no taxes? Maybe you didn't mean to say that. Surely it was a mistake. Like I said, please explain. I am highly considering purchasing your program, but I really want some clarification on this.
If a student is awarded Federal Work-Study, the student will receive the check directly (usually from the school) and will also receive a W-2 form for any earnings received.
The overage check amount that was stated at timestamp 8:09 was incorrect. It should have stated, "I never had to pay anything and I got to where I had 6 figures (in scholarships) AND overage checks every single semester."

Hello! When is the best time for my daughter to apply for a scholarship. She's currently going to the 12th grade this fall 2024 in September? Is it too early? Thank you for your helpful videos!!!
Many scholarships are starting to "turn over" now. So you can start looking and applying for many scholarships now. Many will be at the national level. Local, regional, and state scholarships are mostly offered in the springtime.

When you receive a full ride scholarships Do u also have to apply for accomodations or maybe everything is provided 🧐
Full ride usually indicates that all expenses are covered: tuition, fees, and room and board. Full tuition scholarships are just for tuition. You would need to find scholarships to cover room and board.
could you please help me fill an application form for scholarship.

Currently in a pickle...I'm 26 and have 8 years of credit history. I've maxed out on my federal student loans, and have been looking into private student loans. My credit score is a 760, and both my parents have credit scores below 600. It's hard because all the private lenders I've been looking into have been offering me higher interest rates, with or without my parents as a cosigner :( I feel like it's unfair because I've proven that I can pay things back
Unfortunately, private lenders can put their own requirements on their loan applications. Maybe you can try credit unions? They are smaller "banks" that might offer more flexibility on their requirements.

If it is my first time receiving Fafsa, a card will arrive at my home address.?
The information from FAFSA will be sent to the schools that you selected. The schools will send you a financial aid award letter once they have processed your application. You won't receive a "card".

I don't use AI for grammar. I can google rules of grammar, and check my essay for any grammatical errors. However writing essay using AI comes out to be bad because AI doesn't represent the personality traits very well. I agree it's better to write essay on own.
Yes - AI-generated essays are usually evident pretty quickly because they are so generic and lack personality.

My Pell grant posted to my student account but I do not see my federal loans. Do they post a different times or would o not receive those loans of the Pell grant paid off my tuition? I was hoping to use the loans for school supplies and a laptop since I’m taking online classes but I was kind of confused why the loans didn’t post as well since I didn’t accept it.
You would need to contact your school's financial aid office. If you didn't accept them, you may need to go back and accept the loans so that you can file paperwork to receive the funds. Loan proceeds are usually distributed at the beginning of the academic period.
Guide please
Guide please!
Hey! Im attending a community college, and in our specific college has a program that pays for our tuition for the academic year, after rhat i should have around 7,000$ left after the tuition. With other expenses like books and other major related costs for the year, I should have around 3000-4000$ left. Is that money completely mine? Do i have to pay that back?
It depends what the financial aid package looks like. Loans need to be paid back. If the funds are from grants, then there is no need to pay that back. You should look at your financial aid award letter to see where the money is coming from.
How do we know if we qualify for the Pell Grant? We've already completed FAFSA. If we did qualify, would we find out from the university or directly from FAFSA office?
After filing FAFSA, you can see the summary to find out if you qualify for the Pell grant. If so, it should also be listed in your university's financial aid award letter.
